Songstress Minnie Andrews returns to Adelaide Fringe with a new show Shake It – featuring the best of burlesque, sexy circus, and cabaret. She is joined on stage by special guests in what promises to be a night of anything but polite or gentle – get ready for a rollicking ride of your life.

MY CITY

Adelaide feels like my exhale. It’s slower and softer. It’s the place I’ve felt the least amount of pain — physically and emotionally. I feel happier and more whole here. There’s space to breathe, space to create, and space to just be.

FAVOURITE FOOD MEMORY

The dumplings at Mandu still live rent-free in my mind. It’s the kind of meal where you sit down with your friends and immediately stop talking. No one speak to me until I’ve finished. Steaming, delicate, completely absorbing. And somehow, it’s the cold mashed potato on the side that I think about just as much — unexpected, comforting, and perfect with everything. I still rave about it to anyone who’ll listen.

FAVOURITE BAR

Club Curious at Gluttony is my favourite kind of chaos — an artist bar where you can be silly, loud, and surrounded by your people. I usually just order a red. Nothing fancy — just something to hold while I laugh too hard.

DRINK THAT DESCRIBES YOU

Strawberry Daiquiri fun, colourful, and totally delicious, like me.

BEST HANGOVER CURE

A chicken parma with mushroom gravy from the Uraidla Hotel. Bloody delicious. The chips are always on point. The kind of meal that brings you back to life one bite at a time. Ideally with a big Coke and absolutely no plans for the rest of the day. Or pizza… obviously.

BEST INTERSTATE BAR

Speakeasy Theatre in Melbourne’s CBD. A vaudeville-style theatre bar where live entertainment steals the show. Any chance I get to go to a bar with live entertainment, I always take it. It’s theatrical, a little chaotic, and completely immersive – the kind of place where every night feels like its own performance.

OVERSEAS BAR

Strawberry Fields in Tokyo is tiny and packed with records – it feels like stepping into someone’s secret music shrine. Order a drink, let them choose the vinyl, and get lost in the vibe. It’s intimate, cozy, and the kind of place you never want to leave.

FAVOURITE WINE

My favourite wine at the moment is the Ancient Youth Gamay. A light red that’s perfect for hot days as it can be chilled

FAVOURITE WINERY

Ashton Hills Vineyard is a place I keep coming back to. The views are stunning, the cool-climate wines are elegant and full of character, and it’s just a beautiful spot to enjoy with friends and family. A visit here always feels relaxed, indulgent, and unforgettable.

NEXT DESTINATION

Japan is the best – so that’s where I’m headed next! There’s so much to see, do, and experience. The people are lovely, the food is next level, and those fluffy pancakes are unforgettable. I’m especially excited to check out the new Pokémon theme park.
