1800 Milenio Master Distiller Alejandro Coronado

The arrival of 1800 Milenio in Australia is an exciting moment for tequila lovers. It’s a prestigious expression of tequila that’s been crafted by master distiller Alejandro Coronado; a well-respected figure in the agave world with more than three decades of experience.

Produced at the oldest operating distillery in the Americas, 1800 Milenio embodies the spirit of legacy and is considered the ultimate representation of 1800 Tequila.

“1800 Milenio reflects our past, our mastery, and what’s next,” says Alejandro Coronada.

1800 Milenio is crafted from 100% Weber Blue Agave, carefully steamed in traditional ovens. After a long and delicate aging process of more than three years, the extra-aged spirit is then matured in French oak cognac barrels for an additional four months to create a balanced and unique flavour with notes of vanilla, red fruit and cinnamon on the finish.

How has 1800 Milenio perfected luxury tequila?

The quality of our agaves, the traditional processes gathered throughout generations of expertise, and the quality of our barrels were key in creating and delivering 1800 Milenio.   Every stage of the production is considered and supervised to assure the consistency, refinement, and the prestige our consumer expects in each bottle of 1800 Milenio.

I believe that 1800 Milenio Extra Añejo Tequila is a perfect blend of sophistication and elegance, due to the extended maturation which helps to develop a smoother, balance and more complex offer.   This particular style of tequila is a blend of French Oak toasted barrels and American Oak medium char barrels, before it is finished in Cognac barrels to gain additional layers of flavours and aromas. Every detail is well thought out, from the sophisticated liquid to the package design making this drop the ultimate in luxury.

How do women embrace tequila in Mexico?

Women really enjoy 1800 Milenio in Mexico where I’m from.  Most drink it neat in a Tequila Ridel glass; another popular way is to drink it in a long glass with ice and 1.5 oz of Tequila 1800 Milenio topped with sparkling water (typically in the summer during a warm day).

How should we approach drinking 1800 Milenio?

Always savour your tequila, so it finishes warm. 1800 Milenio is a beautiful dark amber liquid with copper hues and you’ll find a well-balanced extra Añejo tequila here, with main notes that include caramelised fig, almonds, honey, mature raisins, vanilla and cinnamon. On the palette it’s velvety smooth with elements of dark chocolate, caramel, spices and vanilla notes.
