MY CITY
I love Melbourne so much—it feels like a Mediterranean city down under. It’s my playground, filled with incredible food, amazing espresso, and hidden gems. The culture, vibrant energy, and international flavours always keep me inspired. Bellissima.
FAVOURITE FOOD MEMORY
Whenever I miss Italy and home, I head to Pellegrini’s Espresso Bar. I order a bowl of pasta, fresh bread for scarpetta, and finish with a good double espresso and a slice of ciambellone. For a moment, I’m back in my nonna’s kitchen. Love it.
FAVOURITE BAR
The Cork Room. My amazing friend Sue owns it, and it has everything you could dream of—from regional wines to delicious non-alcoholic drinks, plus food that is simply “buonissimo”, chef’s kiss.
DRINK THAT DESCRIBES YOU
Definitely an Espresso Martini. Italian roots, bold energy, a little sweet and cheeky, and always ready to keep the party going in the kitchen.
BEST HANGOVER CURE
Personally, I’ve never had one, but if I did, it would be cured with a strong espresso doppio and a big Italian-sized piece of focaccia. Problem solved.
BEST INTERSTATE BAR
Maybe Sammy in Sydney. It’s entertaining, over-the-top in the best way, and I love their delicious non-alcoholic cocktails. Plus, many of the team are Italian, which makes it even better.
A HOT TIP FOR AN OVERSEAS BAR
I’m always drawn to places with character, especially if they’re over 100 years old. Give me a beautiful historic bar with great atmosphere, a quality non-alcoholic drink or local sweet wines, and authentic local food. Last year I loved the Spanish bars with their delicious tapas.
FAVOURITE WINE
I’m definitely a dessert wine kind of guy. Give me half a glass of Vino Santo with homemade Cantucci (aka biscotti), and I’m happy. This golden Tuscan sweet wine paired with classic biscotti is pure perfection.
FAVOURITE WINERY
Zonzo. It’s also my husband’s favourite too. We absolutely love the food, the atmosphere, and finishing the experience with their delicious tiramisu.
NEXT DESTINATION
Italy. For the delicious food, pasta, vibrant culture, and endless inspiration.
