From disco to R & B with a smattering of synth groove and electronic drum machines at the ready, Sydney’s multi-instrumentalist Donny Benet might be the modern era’s smooth operator, but come July, and all he wants you to do is pick up a non-alcoholic beer.
He teams with his mates at Heaps Normal as an ambassador for the tongue-in-cheek campaign Just Say No To Water – putting a sobering new spin on Dry July.
Donny Benét talks to The Write Drop for our At The Bar series.
And in case you’re wondering; the on-stage persona of Ben Waples aka Donny Benét occurred in the 2010s when he disbanded his jazz trio Triosk. The rest is a modern day Romeo crooner who always gets the girls – we love him for his epic sax solos.
