At The Bar with actress Nathalie Morris

Australian actress Nathalie Morris, best known for her role in the loveable ABC TV series Bump, also stars in a fabulous new rebellious teen flick We Are Dangerous; a powerful story of hope, girlhood and the importance of female friendships.

We Are Dangerous is screening at the opening gala of Melbourne Women in Film Festival on March 20th ACMI. This screening includes a special introduction from the film’s lead actresses Erana James and Nathalie Morris.

Nathalie spoke to The Write Drop for our At the Bar series.

 MY CITY

I’ve lived in Melbourne for the last few months, but I’ve wanted to move here since I was a teenager. We have one of the best cafe and bar cultures in the world, and the staff are so personable. It has a real village feel, but there’s still lots going on.

FAVOURITE FOOD MEMORY

The bread at Napier Quarter. The bread at Marion. The bread at Bar Liberty.

FAVOURITE BAR

Napier Quarter in Fitzroy. A table outside in the summer reminds me of being in France, and they do the most delicious homemade lemonade spritz. The tomato dish is also so pretty. We take a lot of friends there, but it’s also a place you can sit and journal or read for a couple of hours.

DRINK THAT DESCRIBES YOU

The first thing that came to my girlfriend’s mind was an Old Fashioned because I’m so wise. I’ve never had one before.

BEST HANGOVER CURE

Nando’s sweet potato chips.

BEST INTERSTATE BAR

Casa in Mount Hawthorn, Perth. The staff, the food, and the martinis are divine.

OVERSEAS BAR

The original Bar Lina in Soho, London. You have to walk through the deli and down the stairs to get to the bar and with every cocktail you get a free snack from the deli. I also love Dynamic Vines in East Dulwich, London. They have the best cheese.

FAVOURITE WINE

Arianna Ochipinti’s Nero D’Avola. We just did a bit of googling into her wine making practices and found out she started her own wine label at 22.

FAVOURITE WINERY

I don’t think I’ve visited enough wineries to know. But I’ve heard about some beautiful ones in Tasmania, and it’s up there with the places I’d most like to visit.

NEXT DESTINATION

We’re just about to fly back from London, and we’re already planning our return in a few months’ time.
