French Champagne House Jacquart Opens New Bar in Sydney

The arrival of Champagne Jacquart Bar at David Jones Sydney sees the French champagne house position itself among the fashion set looking for a glass of bubbles to toast their latest purchase.

“Our arrival in David Jones is a perfect opportunity for us to introduce our brand to the champagne curious shopper,” says Champagne Jacquart’s Sales Director Victor Liebault.

Established 60 years ago in 1964, Champagne Jacquart is all about embracing the lunch time occasion drinker; where sophisticated elegance has long been their narrative.
“Australians are the sixth biggest consumers of Champagne Jacquart around the world, and for a small population, that’s quite a lot,” adds Liebault.
According to Champagne Jacquart’s winemaker Joëlle Weiss, who joined the business in 2020, Australians are drawn to cuvee wines, and rosè is a popular choice by the glass at the Sydney department store bar. It also appears that Millennials are the biggest consumers.
“Australians are very curious about champagne and always keen to taste something new – Champagne Jacquart’s position here is a chance to expose our brand to those who love all things French and go to David Jones where French fashion brands are also very popular,” says Joëlle Weiss.

We also love that Champagne Jacquart unveiled its first indoor fragrance this year; a 2015 Blanc de Blancs room spray that combines zesty notes and captures the scent of white flowers with a hint of ocean perspective.

The Blanc de Blancs spray saw Weiss partner with Champagne perfumer Lampyre. Together they extract the perfect intersection between champagne aromatics to make a one-of-a-kind scent that makes an ideal gift too.

“We have found another way to express our Blanc de Blancs, and working with a perfumier gave us a new perspective on fragrance and how it feeds into our emotions. It’s a nice extension of what we do and was a joy to develop,” says Weiss who travels the world educating others about champagne.

The free-spirited approach of the Champagne Jacquart House is what makes it a hit with a younger generation of drinkers.

“We’re a contemporary champagne that’s in tune with a more relaxed approach,” says Weiss.

“We always say that we’re not a nighttime champagne, we’re a daytime champagne – it’s about bringing the celebration to the day and making every moment count,” she said.
