International cabaret provocateurs Briefs Factory are coming to Spiegel Haus Melbourne with The Works – dubbed a no-holds-barred raid into their glittering archives of raunchy cabaret classics. They’re part circus, drag and burlesque rolled into one and Las Vegas award-winning artist Mark Captain Kidd Winmill is all circus flex and cheeky athleticism.
He spoke to The Write Drop for our At The Bar series.
MY CITY
Melbourne for me is Oz’s most vibrant and electric cities. A great mix of people from all over, the food, bars, and venues are top notch. We tour all over, so coming back to Melbourne is always exciting.
FAVOURITE FOOD MEMORY
One my favourite food memories is the infamous Mario’s in Fitzroy. An iconic restaurant with the most delicious menu and awesome service.
FAVOURITE BAR
A new favourite bar in Melbourne would have to be the Emerald Peacock on Lonsdale Street. A stunning rooftop with the best cocktail menu. The Goin Troppo cocktail is to die for.
DRINK THAT DESCRIBES YOU
The porn star martini. Fruity, sweet and a little bit sour, with a shot of bubbles.
BEST HANGOVER CURE
A spicy Bloody Mary.
BEST INTERSTATE BAR
Our local on the Northern Rivers – Brushgrove Hotel. It’s old school prices with crazy locals and we get there by our pontoon party boat.
OVERSEAS BAR
Kušaonica Oysteria in Croatia, in a beautiful old town called Ston. Always have the oysters of course, but the most delicious local wines and beers you could wish for.
FAVOURITE WINE
One I am loving at the moment is a dry Rosè called Cupio.
FAVOURITE WINERY
Riverbank Estate Winery in the Swan Valley, Perth – boasts the most delicious menu of white wines.
NEXT DESTINATION
Our Melbourne season is back and then we head to Red Earth Festival in Karratha, WA.
