The Bars You Need to visit on World Margarita Day

Are you a margarita snob? Yeah, well, so are we. You’ll be glad you came across this list of where to drink the best margaritas come World Margarita Day on February 22nd.

Who doesn’t rejoice when margaritas are made with utmost care and dedication by the experts? We all know that quality tequila makes all the difference. Whether you’re after a classic margarita or a twist on a classic, here’s our take on who is getting it right in Melbourne.

The Italo-Disco swagger of Studio Amaro means margaritas in their mighty hands gives us a reason to bust a Mambo Italiano move on World Margarita Day. Head here for a Limoncello Margarita [$23] – think lashings of Tromba Blanco, Tommy’s Limoncello [we love supporting local makers from Melbourne], Agave and Lemon Juice.

A Japanese twist on a Mexican classic can be found at Tokyo Tina. Order the Mizuchi Margarita [$22] – fuelled with Tromba Tequila, Lime, Lemongrass, Ginger and Togarashi Salt Rim for that wow factor.

At Moonhouse, order the Atypical Marg [$22] – the silver lining is in the chilli, coriander, lemon myrtle and cardamon flavour profile; and they opt for Tromba Tequila Silver for all their cocktail needs.

Who doesn’t love a Spicy Margarita [$23] when it’s done right? At Firebird, the team turn up the heat with Tequila Habanero, Pomelo and Bergamot for a raunchy nod.

If lobby bars and hotels segues are more your thing, then the folks at Lona Misa [where Ovolo South Yarra can be found] and Amphlett House [in Little Bourke Street] are offering $10 margaritas between 6 and 8pm daily until sold until week commencing 19th February. All killer, no filler here.

The team at Amphlett House are makingSpicy Margaritas [with housemade jalapeno syrup], and nod to all things with the Eucalyptus Margarita.

At Lona Misa and Backroom @ Ovolo, get experimental with the Coconut Margarita, a Jalapeno Watermelon Margarita and Passionfruit Margarita for those seeking a fruity kick.

For the best views of the bay  – head to Pipis Kiosk for the Mezcal Margarita [$23] – where they make their margs with a blend of Mezcal, Tequila, Orange and Agave Nectar.

Northside, head to Neighbourhood Wine for a Tommy’s Margarita [$20] and Bahama Gold [its sisterly side kick] who make their margaritas squeezing fresh lime and agave for extra deliciousness. They keep it smooth by using Los Arcos ‘el Valle’ Tequila.

Happy World Margarita Day!
