One half of the cheeky Italians behind summer’s newest cocktail liqueur Tommy’s Booze is smiling from ear to ear and we know just why.
Dan Leuzzi has whipped up punchier versions of classic cocktails by simply swapping an essential ingredient for his liqueur in a bid to rewrite cocktail history [ok, well that’s a stretch].
Leuzzi is co-owner of Freddy’s Pizza and co-founder of Tommy’s Booze – a Melbourne made liqueur he started with his Roman-born business partner Tom Giurioli. The duo are tipping their Italian cappello [that’s hat in Italian] to the soundtrack of the summer – where a Peach Sour, Limoncello Mojito and Raspberry Collins is set to rule their playlist.
The Peach Sour could be your new summer go-to while the Limoncello Mojito puts the tangy liqueur to the test and wins. They’ve also rebranded the classic Tom Collins for a Raspberry Collins [pictured below] for a brighter cocktail spark.
Get your tastebuds on it; your friends will love you for the epiphany.
MY CITY
Melbourne born and raised! I was born in Moorrabin (die hard Saints TRAGIC), and have lived in the inner south-east suburbs since day dot. I love it for its people; my family, friends, community and all our staff. It’s home because of the people around me.
FAVOURITE FOOD MEMORY
France Soir, with my business partner Tom. It was one of the first times I had dined there, and we went to town on the place. Food, wine and laughs with the staff. A f..cking raucous lunch. We met Jean Paul and Joanne and the time they gave us, with chats and advice on the industry, was something I won’t forget anytime soon.
FAVOURITE BAR MEMORY
Limoncello Margarita at Studio Amaro. The boys at Commune are very good friends of mine, and they’re using our limoncello in their new cocktail. Bloody delicious and I felt proud.
WINE THAT DESCRIBES YOU
Catarratto (Sicilian grape). I can be a bit salty, very textural (I got some layers mate), but there’s a smooth finish most of the time. And your coming back for more….
