Australian chef, restauranteur and TV personality George Calombaris joins PROVIDOOR Frozen, bringing his authentic Greek recipes to the menu that you can now order for home delivery.
He keeps busy with his Hellenic House Project in Highett, consults at Hotel Sorrento on the Mornington Peninsula and is co-founder of a soon-to-be-released business Culinary Wonderland – a digital platform for food enthusiasts and appears on TV and radio.
Reviving his signature restaurant dishes from the past, you’ll find Calombaris’ 12-hour slow cooked shoulder of lamb on the menu plus keftedes [Greek style meatballs], braised beef moussaka and Greek lamb skewers.
He joins an esteemed line-up of talent also on the PROVIDOOR Frozen platform including Silvia Colloca, Anna Polyviou, Manu Feildel and Christine Manfield.
The Write Drop talks to George Calombaris for our At The Bar series.
MY CITY
Extremely blessed and grateful to grow up in Melbourne. Outside the majority countries of the world, you can’t get a better coffee, a great bowl of Pho, an incredible bowl of pasta, and of course a better Souva. Melbourne for me is complete.
FAVOURITE FOOD MEMORY
This is like picking a favourite a child. I’ve been blessed to travel the world and eat in the most amazing Gastronomic temples. Everything from 3 star and beyond, but most importantly some of the most incredible food cooked from homes . Head to https://www.culinarywonderland.com/ and sign up to view my top picks.

The Clumsies in the vibrant and historic city of Athens, Greece. Putting aside their incredible accolades, a must drink is their Mediterranean Gimlet – liquid Greek salad in a glass.

NEXT DESTINATION
A dream come true to be able to be doing a pop-up restaurant in Niseko, Japan, where I will be showcasing my love of Modern Greek food using incredible Japanese produce.
WHAT CAN WE EXPECT FROM YOU AT PROVIDOOR
Homely, authentic, and warming classic Greek food for you to enjoy in your home. Knowing the fact that I only have one restaurant, to be able to give the country a little taste of my food, makes me warm and happy/
WHAT WOULD YOU ORDER FROM PROVIDOOR
Providoor celebrates incredible talent. I really want to try Justin Narayan’s Tacos, throw in a couple of Gary’s Curries, Manu’s Pomme Purée and maybe a cheeky dessert from Anna Polyviou.
