At The Bar with 23rd Street Distillery’s Sarah Camerlengo

Award-winning Australian spirit producer 23rd Street Distillery has unveiled three new sparkling RTD flavours just in time for summer. Crafted with the same passion the makers have for their spirit collection; the new blends are sure to be a party hit. From the tropical gin and sodas blended with mango, pineapple, passionfruit and finger lime to the raspberry and pineapple and lime combined with vodka, they’re a fun and welcome addition to the market.

The Write Drop talks to 23rd Street Distillery’s Brand Manager Sarah Camerlengo for At The Bar.

MY CITY

I am an Adelaide girl – born and raised. I feel so lucky to live in SA where we are surrounded by some of the world’s best wine regions, have an abundance of stunning local produce and phenomenal beaches – this is where you’ll find me on any hot summer’s day.

FAVOURITE FOOD MEMORY

Sitting at the table one Sunday afternoon at my grandmother’s house. Coming from a European family, meal times are very special and shared with family and friends. I remember being there with all my cousins, aunties and uncles – it was hot and it was loud and the tables were FULL to the brim with every type of food you can imagine… but the laughter, fun and conversations we had that day were something I will never forget and always hold close to my heart.

FAVOURITE BAR MEMORY

It was during the Adelaide Fringe season and a group of my friends met in the city for a Saturday sunset drink. We sat outside at East End Cellars – it was a beautiful warm day, we had charcuterie boards for days (my favourite).

DRINK THAT BEST DESCRIBES YOU

Definitely a fruity Gin – 23rd Street Tropical Gin and Soda. I can be fun and adventurous but mellow and subtle when I need to be.

BEST HANGOVER CURE

Hot chips with extra salt always.

BEST INTERSTATE BAR

Agnes in Brisbane. I had an amazing meal there and afterwards headed down to the bar for some drinks – the cocktails and service was insane. I stayed there for hours.

FAVOURITE WINE

Beresford Fiano – fruity, light, floral and fun which is exactly what I look for in a wine.

FAVOURITE WINERY

Beresford in McLaren Vale – the wines are amazing; the views are stunning and accommodation is incredible.

BEST DRINK NEWCOMER

23rd Street Tropical Gin. The obsession is real. I drink it with soda, in a cocktail and sometimes just on the rocks with lots of ice and freshly squeezed lime.

NEXT DESTINATION

Europe every day of the week, but I am dying to go back to Portugal. I visited Lisbon and fell in love – one of the most beautiful cities I have ever seen. The food, locals, heritage and landscape were incredible, and I can’t wait to go back again and also explore more of Portugal.

TELL US ABOUT THE NEW RTD RANGE AT 23RD STREET DISTILLERY

We spent a lot of time looking at different flavour profiles to create something truly unique  for the 23rd Street lovers. We decided to craft these beverages with a dual flavour profile to create an elevated drinking experience. The flavours are inspired by giving people the feeling of summer days and sweet escapes just by drinking them.

PLANS FOR 2024

We are working very hard in the background to have some special new entrants to our portfolio early in 2024. Something a little different, something new and will surprise and delight our dark spirit lovers.
